The Church of GENERAL CONFERENCE INFORMATION The 170th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be held on Saturday and Sunday, 7-8 October 2000. The conference will originate from the newly completed Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Messages of inspiration and guidance will be delivered by the First Presidency, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other General Authorities and general officers of the Church. All sessions of general conference will be broadcast over the Church satellite system to meetinghouses throughout North America, Central America, South America, and Europe. Live session times are as follows: Saturday morning session: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (MDT); Saturday afternoon session: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (MDT); Saturday priesthood session: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (MDT); Sunday morning session: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (MDT); Sunday afternoon session: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (MDT). In addition, Music and the Spoken Word, featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, will be broadcast on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. (MDT). Short Church-related programs are planned to be broadcast during the two-hour break between the morning and afternoon general sessions.INTERNET BROADCAST The general sessions of conference (not the priesthood session) will also be broadcast live over the Internet at the Church's official Internet site, http://www.lds.org. Audio will be available in 34 languages, and video will be available in English. Those who are interested in participating in the Internet broadcast are encouraged to visit http://www.lds.org early for instructions and to download software necessary to view or listen to the conference over the Internet. OTHER BROADCAST OPTIONS General sessions of conference (not the priesthood session) will be broadcast on Dish Network channel 9601 (live), BYUTV (Dish Network channel 9403--two hour delay), DirectTV channel 361 (live and a rebroadcast each day at 4:30 p.m. (MDT)), and LDSRadio (Dish Network channel 990, live--audio only). Utah only: KSL-TV (live, NBC channel 5) and KBYU-TV (PBS channel 11--two hour delay). Bonneville Communications will provide an analog signal that home satellite dish owners (with a C-band satellite) can pick up. General conference on 7-8 October will be on Galaxy 11 (c-band analog) Transponder 8. English audio will be 6.2 and 6.8. Spanish audio will be 5.8. The priesthood session is not available on this satellite.
